Bakgrund: Övervikt och obesitas ökar globalt. Samtidigt beskriver WHO att viktstigmatisering och viktdiskriminering har ökat de senaste åren. Tidigare forskning visar att stigmatisering av obesa och överviktiga patienter förekommer inom vården. Ytterligare forskning kring deras upplevelser av viktstigmatisering inom hälso- och sjukvården behövs.

Syfte: Att beskriva överviktiga och obesa patienters upplevelser av viktstigmatisering i mötet med hälso- och sjukvården.

Metod: En litteraturstudie med kvalitativ och induktiv ansats utfördes. Tio vetenskapliga originalartiklar inkluderades. Graneheim och Lundmans (2004) innehållsanalys användes som dataanalysmetod.

Resultat: Resultatet visade överviktiga och obesa patienters upplevelser av viktstigmatisering i mötet med hälso- och sjukvården. Fyra underkategorier identifierades; Att känna skam och skuld, Att känna sig bedömd, Att inte känna sig hörd samt Höra ord som sårar. Två kategorier identifierades; Mötets betydelse och Utmaningar i dialogen. 

Slutsats: Upplevelser av viktstigmatisering visades genom vårdpersonalens bemötande och kommunikation. Fortsatt forskning rekommenderas i hur sjuksköterskor upplever mötet med överviktiga och obesa patienter, samt hur utbildning kan påverka attityder och fördomar gentemot överviktiga patienter.

Background: Overweight and obesity are increasing globally. At the same time, WHO describes that weight stigma and weight discrimination have increased in recent years. Previous research shows that stigmatization of obese and overweight patients occurs in health care. Further research around patients' experiences of weight stigmatization within health care is needed. 

Aim: To describe overweight and obese patients' experiences of weight stigmatization in the encounter with healthcare. 

Method: A literature study with qualitative and inductive approach was implemented. Ten original scientific articles were included. Graneheim and Lundman's (2004) content analysis was used as the analysis method of the data. 

Results: The result showed overweight and obese patients' experiences of weight stigmatization in the encounter with health care. Four subcategories were identified; Feeling shame & guilt, Feeling judged, Not feeling heard and Hearing words that hurt. Two main categories were identified; Significance of the meeting and Challenges in the dialogue.

Conclusions: Experiences of weight stigmatization were shown through the care staff's treatment and communication. Future research is recommended into how nurses experience the encounter with overweight and obese patients, as well as how education can affect attitudes and prejudices towards overweight patients.
