Abstract [sv]

Bakgrund: Diabetes Mellitus typ-2 är en folksjukdom som har ökat dramatisktöver hela världen de senaste decennierna. Sjukdomen är förknippad med enohälsosam livsstil samt otillräcklig kunskap och utbildning. Egenvård är en viktig och avgörande del av behandlingen.

Syftet: Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att beskriva individens erfarenheterav egenvård vid diabetes mellitus typ-2.

Metod: En litteraturstudie med kvalitativ ansats med tematisk analys av 13vetenskapliga artiklar.

Resultat: Två teman med fyra subteman identifierades: förutsättningar föregenvård med subteman: behov av kunskap och behov av stöd. Andra temat: förhålla sig till en ny vardag med subteman: livsstilsförändring och oro somföljeslagare.

Slutsats: kunskapsbrist var ett hinder för hantering av egenvård. Med hjälp avkunskap om livsstilsförändringar och stöd av både närstående ochsjukvårdspersonal kan individen upprätthålla en bra egenvård. Individensegenvårdsförmåga kan påverkas av sjuksköterskans stöd.

Abstract [en]

Background: Diabetes Mellitus type 2 is a public disease that has increaseddramatically worldwide in recent decades. The disease is associated with anunhealthy lifestyle and insufficient knowledge and education. Self-care is animportant and decisive part of treatment.

Aim: The purpose of this literature study was to describe the individuals’experiences of self-care in diabetes type 2.

Method: A literature study with a qualitative approach with thematic analysis of13 scientific articles.

Results: Two themes with four subthemes were identified: prerequisites for self-care with subthemes: need for knowledge and need for support. Second theme:relating to a new everyday life with sub-themes: lifestyle changes and anxiety asa companion.

Conclusion: lack of knowledge was an obstacle to managing self-care. With thehelp of knowledge about lifestyle changes and support from both relatives andhealthcare professionals, the individual can maintain good self-care. Theindividuals’ self-care ability can be affected by the nurse’ support.
