Abstract [sv]

Syfte: Att beskriva personens erfarenheter av fysisk aktivitet som en del av behandling vid depression. 

Bakgrund: Depression är ett av de största folkhälsoproblem i vårt moderna samhälle. Samtidigt har fysisk aktivitet visat sig ha goda hälsoeffekter mot depression och dess symtom. Det är viktigt för sjuksköterskor i sin yrkesroll erhålla en ökad förståelse och kan arbeta personcentrerat med hänsyn till individens erfarenheter av depression och fysisk aktivitet. 

Metod: För denna studie genomfördes en litteraturstudie med kvalitativ ansats. Tio vetenskapliga artiklar hittades genom en systematisk sökning i tre vårdvetenskapliga databaser. Artiklarna analyserades därefter med stöd av tematisk analys. 

Resultat: Tre teman och sex subteman identifierades. De huvudteman som framkom var: Att leva med motstånd mot rörelse, när andra gör skillnad och när rörelse få en mening. 

Slutsats: Vid depression har det visat sig att fysiska aktivitet har positiva effekter på hälsan. Erfarenheter individen erhåller kan skilja sig mellan personer därför är det viktigt att sjuksköterskan besitter adekvat kunskap kring depression och omvårdnaden.

Abstract [en]

Aim: To describe the person’s experiences of physical activity as part of treatment for depression.  

Background: Depression is one of the major public health issues in our modern society. At the same time, physical activity has been shown to have beneficial health effects on depression and its symptoms. It’s important or nurses, in the professional role, to have an increased understanding and be able to work in a person-centered way, considering the individual’s experiences of depression and physical activity. 

Method: A literature review with a qualitative approach was conducted for this study. Ten scientific articles were found through a systematic search in three nursing science databases. The articles were then analyzed using thematic analysis. 

Results: Three themes and six subthemes were identified. The main themes that emerged were: Living with resistance to movement, when others make a difference, and when movement gains meaning. 

Conclusion: It has been shown that physical activity has positive effects on health. The experiences individuals gain can differ between people, which is why it’s important for the nurse to have adequate knowledge about depression and nursing care.
