Bakgrund: Infektionssjukdomar finns över hela världen och vissa är mer smittsamma än andra. Ett sätt att förhindra att smittan sprider sig är att isolera den smittade. Det innebär att de vårdas i ett enkelrum, oftast med ett undertryckssystem för att förhindra att infektionen sprider sig på sjukhuset. Det har ur sjuksköterskeperspektiv setts påverka relationen till patienten negativt då personalen inte upplever att de har samma kontakt med patienten som de skulle ha utan skyddsutrustningen då den döljer ansiktsuttryck och identitet.

Syfte: Att undersöka upplevelsen av isoleringsvård hos patienter med smittsam sjukdom.

Metod: Strukturerad litteraturstudie med integrativ ansats.

Resultat: I resultatet ingår 13 artiklar. Det som framkommer är att det är många faktorer som kan påverkar hur en patient upplever isoleringsvård. Såsom rummets utformning och storlek, hur personalen tog sig tid för patienten samt skyddsutrustningen som användes. Även religion och tro var något som hade inverkan på upplevelse. Känslor såsom att vara fängslad, stigmatiserad och ensam var något som var genomgående i studien.

Slutsats: Det finns en del aspekter som vårdpersonal kan ha i beaktning när de vårdar denna patientgrupp. Att inte visa rädsla för sjukdomen och att se patienten bakom sjukdomen istället för själva smittan kan bidra till en bättre vårdupplevelse för patienten. Desto mer kunskap det finns om sjukdomen desto tryggare blir det att vårda dessa patienter.

Conclusion: Not showing fear of the disease and seeing the patient behind the disease instead of the infection itself can contribute to a better care experience for the patient. The more knowledge there is about the disease, the safer it will be to care for these patients.
